Bingley family flee as fire breaks out in kitchen
9:28pm Monday 26th December 2011
A woman, her young child and her mother had to flee their home after a fire broke out in the kitchen tonight.
Firefighters were called to the house in Broadway, Bingley, at about 5pm after an extension cable running under a cooker in the kitchen caught fire.
Watch commander David Sharp, of Bingley fire station, said the woman, believed to be in her 20s, had been cooking when the family smelled burning.
He said: “She had an extension lead running under the cooker.
"We recommend extension leads don’t go under cookers or flooring so you can see any damage that occurs to them.”
